COVID-19 Health Communications
Mecklenburg County Public Health embarked on a critical mission with the "COVID-19" campaign, designed to address the specific needs of lower-income African American and Hispanic populations in Charlotte-Mecklenburg County. The primary objective of this
campaign was to raise awareness about COVID-19 vaccines, ultimately encouraging these
underserved communities to access resources available through local immunization
clinics.
Hispanic Health Communications
The "Hispanic Health Communications" campaign was a vital initiative that sought to empower and inform the Hispanic community about essential healthcare resources and services provided by Mecklenburg County Public Health. Beyond disseminating information about vaccines, the campaign aimed to shed light on the extensive offerings of MCPH, fostering awareness of its role as a valuable ally in promoting the well-being of the community.

Healthy Eating and Physical Activity
The "Healthy Eating and Physical Activity" campaign embarked on a mission to inspire lasting change within lower-income African American and Hispanic communities residing in priority zip codes in Charlotte. The campaign's primary objectives were to elevate awareness about the significance of incorporating more fruits and vegetables into daily diets and promoting daily physical activity.
Tobacco Cessation
With the "Tobacco Cessation" campaign, we were on a mission to raise awareness about menthol and smoking within the African-American community, recognizing the profound impact of menthol products on this demographic. This campaign, strategically tailored for the African American community, held two pivotal objectives: to inspire individuals to embark on the journey to quit smoking by illuminating the wealth of resources available through QuitlineNC, and to serve as a deterrent against new tobacco use.

PrEP Awareness for Black Women in Mecklenburg County
Closing the Gap: PrEP Awareness for Black Women in Mecklenburg County was a culturally tailored, community-driven campaign to increase HIV prevention knowledge and access for Black women — developed in partnership with UNC's Project EnSTEP. Black women represent 15% of all women in the United States — yet account for 50% of new HIV diagnoses among women. HIV incidence among Black women is ten times higher than white women and four times higher than Latina women. In Mecklenburg County, these numbers are impossible to ignore.
